Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) received 2 awards of the Abu Dhabi Government Excellence Awards in its fourth edition in 2015.

  • First place in the category of Excellence in Knowledge Management.
  • The category of Best Improved Entity among 51 government entities.

The award reflects the painstaking efforts and the continuous endeavours of ADEK and its staff to keep abreast of the most significant global developments pertaining to excellence in institutional performance.

About the Award

The Abu Dhabi Government Excellence Award first started in 2006 to encourage and motivate excellent performance and promote constructive competition between government entities in support of the Government of Abu Dhabi's vision to establish a culture of excellence and develop the capabilities of Government departments and their employees while empowering local expertise.

In the third edition of the Abu Dhabi Government Excellence Award, the Department of Education and Knowledge also received an award for excellence in financial performance at the level of Abu Dhabi Government entities.

Information Security Management Certificate ISO/IEC 27001:2013

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (previously known as Abu Dhabi Education Council) received the Information Security Management Certificate ISO/IEC 27001:2013, in appreciation of its dedication in delivering secure information services at the highest quality standards as well as its success in using advanced technology to maintain information security and confidentiality.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge received the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate, the internationally approved criteria for quality management systems, for its dedication to applying the highest global standards of administrative systems and its continuous efforts in improving the efficiency of the work environment in its different departments; such as Human Resources, Finance, Public Services, Information and Communication Technology, Procurement and Contract Management.

About the Certificate

The international standard specifying requirements for quality management systems ISO 9001:2015 is issued by the International Standardization Organization (ISO). The certificate requires documentation of the organisation’s internal systems and assessing it periodically to ensure the implementation of the international standards required for quality.

ISO 20000-1:2011 IT Service Management Systems

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge received the ISO 20000-1:2011 IT Service Management Systems Certificate as a result of its relentless efforts to raise the standards of educational technology to the highest international standards.

The ISO 20000 standard classification is the first of its kind in the world that focuses on Information Technology Management.

The ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 Certificate aims at improving the services provided to ensure customer and staff satisfaction.

The Platinum Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)

The Department of Education and Knowledge is the first Government entity in Abu Dhabi to receive the Platinum Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). This comes as a result of ADEK’s commitment to following the best global practices in procurement and supply. The award is granted after a series of comprehensive and precise audits is carried out by an independent team of auditors, and is considered as the highest procurement and supply award to be presented to any institution.

The Chartered Institute is a leader in the area of procurement and contracts and is the only entity in the world that offers certification in this field either to individuals or institutions which succeed in achieving the highest global standards in procurement and supply.
